Dean Snyder Construction Internship Overview – Summer 2025
Welcome to the Dean Snyder Construction Internship Program! We are excited to offer college students the chance to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of construction. This program is designed to provide exposure to field and office operations, project management, and construction techniques while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive learning environment.
Program Duration:
May 27 – August 8, 2025
Program Highlights:
- Hands-On Construction Experience:
- Gain practical exposure working with various crews and learning different trades on active construction sites.
- Utilize industry-standard tools and technologies, including surveying equipment and Fieldwire software, to contribute to project progress.
- Work directly with project superintendents and engineers to assist with the layout, blueprint reading, and daily project documentation.
- Office and Project Management Exposure:
- Learn key aspects of project management, including procurement, scheduling, cost estimation, and change order processes.
- Work alongside project managers to develop project schedules, solicit bids from subcontractors, and manage requests for information (RFIs).
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for change requests, reviewing shop drawings, and generating job-specific quantity takeoffs.
- Weekly Learning Sessions with Industry Leaders:
- Participate in discussions with project management and construction experts on topics such as emerging industry trends, project management best practices, and career advice.
- Build your professional network and gain valuable insights into the construction field.
- Capstone Project Presentation:
- Complete a comprehensive end-of-summer project that highlights your experience and learning throughout the program.
- Present your project to Dean Snyder Construction’s leadership team and demonstrate your understanding of the construction management process.
- Field Experience Requirement:
- All interns will spend a minimum of one summer working in the field to develop a basic understanding of construction processes, gaining valuable exposure to the physical and operational aspects of the job.
Tentative Roles for 2025: We are currently finalizing specific roles, but potential internships include:
- Project Engineer Intern
- Field Operations Intern
- Building Trades
Qualifications:
- College students currently pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong academic performance and a keen interest in the construction industry.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A willingness to work in both field and office environments.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to use a variety of power tools.
