Job Description
- Facilitate smooth crane operation through controlled and precise boom and load line management to enable the safe and accurate placement of piles and loads
- Requires collaboration with Foreman, Pile Drivers, Welders, Helpers, Laborers, and other skilled craft team members.
- Maintain visual and radio contact with ground operators
- Provide additional support to other crane operators as necessary, including working overtime to complete tasks, operating several types of equipment and training, or monitoring junior operators.
- Must maintain a current Load Chart and Operations Manual within the crane cab at all times
- Demonstrate Load Chart proficiency on various crane configurations and load chart usage, all in the language of the manufacturer’s instruction manual.
- Correct selection of rated rigging (slings, cables, straps, blocks, hooks, shackles, etc.) and the crane appurtenances prior to lifting operations with assurances that all lifts are within load limits of equipment and correctly rigged.
- Must possess the ability to operate various mobile cranes safely with minimum supervision while being able to handle multiple tasks.
- Must possess a thorough understanding of crane operation characteristics, controls, emergency skills, response to fire, power line contact, tipping, malfunction characteristics and performance questions about the specific crane types in use.
- The Crane Operator will be responsible for all safety aspects of operating the equipment.
