We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Grants Accountant to manage all financial processes related to government-funded contracts. This key role serves as the primary liaison with government agencies, overseeing vouchering, budgeting, reconciliation, and compliance reporting. The ideal candidate will also contribute to broader financial responsibilities including general ledger management, audit preparation, and property management accounting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the financial lifecycle of government contracts, including vouchering, monthly/annual reconciliation, and compliance reporting.
- Serve as the lead contact for government agency financial communications.
- Implement and monitor agency-wide grant compliance and reporting systems, both fiscal and programmatic.
- Collaborate with the CFO to integrate government contract terms into the organization-wide budget and cost allocation plans.
- Prepare and submit timely financial reports and vouchers to government funders.
- Support government audits and maintain detailed reporting on receivables.
- Oversee financial allocations in the system and support foundation and grant financial reporting.
- Handle monthly and year-end closing activities for the general ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist with audit preparations and budget development.
- Uphold and enhance internal controls and provide guidance on implementation.
- Stay current on industry standards, software, and regulatory requirements through ongoing education.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification: CPA preferred but not required.
Job Experience: 2-3 years not-for-profit accounting experience including management of government contracts.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions and percentages.
Special Knowledge & Skills: Excellent organizational skills, proficiency in FUNDEZ software; proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Excel and Word; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to handle and maintain confidential information. Strong knowledge of fund/grant accounting and GAAP guidelines.
