Position Summary
This position is responsible for daily Safe Haven operations including scheduling and training of Safe Haven volunteers; maintaining timely and accurate logs; meal preparation and delivery; crisis intervention; conducting Safe Haven activities; ensuring safety and integrity of Safe Haven space.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Management
- Know and comply with policies and procedures of Deborah's Place and the Safe
- Coordinate the scheduling and training of Safe Haven
- Communicate directly and effectively concerns and observations to internal and externalservice providers.
- Communicate directly and effectively with other Safe Haven staff and
- Ensure program safety, security, cleanliness and integrity of the building during designated hours.This includes staying awake on the overnight
- Prepare and serve
- Ensure the proper ordering, stocking and storage of goods and
- Collaborate with Safe Haven staff to plan & conduct Safe Haven operations and
- Timely and appropriate crisis
Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the Residential Manager of the Safe Haven Housing Program and
share on call responsibilities two weekends out of the month - Work with Residential Manager to maintain program goals and comply with reporting requirements.
- Maintain program paperwork and participant files in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Act as Residential Manager in absence of Residential Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification: Food Handling and Sanitation Certification preferred. First Aid/CPR preferred.
Job Experience: 2-3 years of social service and/or residential program experience;
Special Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, mental illness and chemical dependency; proficiency in Microsoft Office software, effective oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, conflict management and crisis intervention skills; demonstrate clear and professional boundaries; act in a professional manner; Valid Illinois driver's license preferred.
