What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Dec-USA?
ESTIMATOR
The Estimator is responsible for working across business teams (local or internationally) to advise the client and direct the client to secure business for the Dec Group. Support the conceptual design and development of equipment and systems and redesign of existing systems to fulfill the requirements of internal and external customers. Responsible for seamless technical transition of projects from Sales through to the Engineering Team.
Applications
- Successful management of the Dec-USA Quote Review List, ensuring all systems are updated with the latest and relevant information.
- Works with the Dec-USA team to develop a costing database enabling flexibility in quoting options and accuracy of costs – in addition to working with all Dec Group Global operations for standardization
- Review Customer’s User Requirement Specification (URS) or Tender, documents to establish the base level of offer, working with the engineering and sales teams, build a solution and using all products and capabilities from the Dec Group.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals to present to the external Sales team, support post submission discussions as required.
- Working with the Global Sales Manager to coordinate all commercial matters associated with the preparation of a quotation in line with the latest corporate governance, including but not limited to accurate identification, optimization (where possible) and collection of all cost estimates; establish & agree profit margins with Global Sales Manager.
- Collate and ensure the timely provision of the Sales Order Handover
Sales
- Participate in weekly sales meeting
- Visit customer site as needed and provide sales support to both the company and the customer when required
Technical Transition
- Provide effective technical support to the Project/Engineering Team ensuring conceptual solutions are effectively transitioned
Technical Development
- Working with projects and designs teams across business develop new standards to support future sales/application inquiries
- Assist in making changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary for continued cost reduction
General
- Plan personal workload in line with project key milestone deliverables to ensure project delivery on time and in full.
- Prepare reports, plans and financial information as required
- Share expertise and keep up to date with developments
- Maintain an effective working relationship with all teams within the business
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the business, its people and processes
- Participate in other duties as and when required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.):
- 5 years of previous fabrication or machining experience required
- Experience with Auto CAD a plus
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of engineering and programming including electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
- Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient with computer design systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
