Summary:

Employee is primarily responsible for assisting RNs, LPNs, and Physicians with care of the patients. The employee should be able to think and react quickly in critical situations. The employee performs the duties assigned using methods and procedures included in their certification curriculum along with following policies and procedures established by the hospital’s administrative staff. The patient population includes patients from infancy to geriatrics who present with either medical or post-surgical problems. The Nursing Assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, appropriate to the age of the patients on their assigned unit.

Work Schedule:

Must be able to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays. Must have the ability to float to other nursing units. This program requires that the student work at least 10 hours per week. These hours may be during the assigned classroom time or evenings and weekends.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education
-
Must be currently and actively enrolled in a local high school participating with DCMH for work-based learning opportunities. State Licensed as a CNA or obtain CNA within 3 months.

Experience

Active CNA certification required. (Will train) Must be on approved school's Work-Based Learning list.

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.

Certificates & Licenses

Completion of a CNA program and BLS required.

Other Requirements
-
Ability to multi-task. This position requires frequent standing and walking and frequent use of hands and fingers. Must be able to reach above shoulder occasionally and squat or kneel occasionally and lifting or moving more than 50 pounds.
