Overview
DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our corporate team, supporting the team members of our mission-driven organization through the administration and compliance of our payroll, timekeeping and accounts payable systems and processes. This position plays a key role in administering our employees' compensation and the accounting for subcontractor and other company expenses.
This role is on a hybrid telecommute model. Required to be in the Reston Office at least 3 days a week.
Duties & Responsibilities
PAYROLL
- Process employee data related to the following: new hires, terminations, transfers, salary adjustments, direct deposits, and tax withholdings.
- Process electronic timesheets; ensures accuracy of all employee timekeeping records.
- Review and audit payrolls, including gross pay, hours worked, vacation accruals, tax deductions, benefits deductions, garnishments, etc. Make necessary corrections prior to final payroll approval and transmission.
- Ensure weekly and semi-monthly disbursement of payroll in accordance with federal, state and local wage and hour laws.
- Post payroll and labor to the Unanet general ledger.
- Complete new state payroll tax registrations and manage accounts as required to keep company in good standing with each state.
- Provide assistance with problem troubleshooting and resolves employee pay discrepancies
- Maintain contact with any vendor to investigate discrepancies, resolve issues
- Manage payroll files and other record keeping
- Assist with audits and tax engagements
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
- Enter invoices into Unanet, insuring they are properly authorized within existing purchase orders, if applicable.
- Ensures all invoices and expense reports get timely approvals and that GL accounting doing is accurate and aligns to annual budget.
- Set up ACH payment transactions directly with our bank for both vendors and employees.
- Record daily bank transactions in Unanet, including both receipts and disbursements.
- Reconcile the company American Express card accounts, gathers all receipts from cardholders and make related payments and Unanet entries.
- Set up new vendors in Unanet, after obtaining bank account information and W-4 forms from each vendor.
- Maintain SharePoint repository of vendor and invoice data.
- Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
- Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling books of accounts
- Assists with reconciling vendor statements, including asking vendor for missing invoices we do not have.Review employee expense reports and ensure receipts are attached and approvals received
- Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records and reports.
- Performs other duties as required to support Accounting and HR Department.
- Maintain listing of recurring corporate expenses
- Analyzing workflow processes
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Prior government contracting experience is required.
- Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent attention to detail is a requirement.
- SCA payroll experience desirable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Data entry skills
- Knowledge of Concur is a plus
Desired:
- Knowledge of Unanet and ADP payroll is highly desired.
