ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:
Rapid Finance seeks a talented individual with outstanding critical thinking and analytical skills to join our growing accounting team. The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller with the Company's day-to-day accounting operations. The Staff Accountant will assist in preparing monthly reconciliation and weekly and monthly analysis reports. This hybrid role requires the team member to work 1 to 3 days a week in our corporate office in Bethesda, MD, two city blocks from the Bethesda Metro.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Prepare, maintain and enter intricate journal entries (daily, monthly, adjusting, and recurring).
- Perform general ledger accounts analysis, reconciliations and roll-forwards, including bank statements, fixed assets, payables, accrued expenses and prepaid expenses
- Post daily cash receipts and disbursements, record revenues and loan receivables transactions, ensuring that they are accurately recorded in the system
- Participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process including preparation of monthly financial statements
- Analyze and compile financial data for quarter and year-end accounting and audit/tax schedules
- Manage daily operational accounting processes as assigned.
- Research and resolve legacy and new reconciliation differences between the general ledger and source systems.
- Take part in the implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Assist user testing and documentation of workflows associated with systems implementation
- Assist in any other tasks assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting in the financial services industry. Corporate accounting or loan accounting is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and concepts
- Commitment: Ability to work comfortably under pressure and meet tight deadlines; comfortable prioritizing multiple work streams across daily responsibilities and long-term projects, and independently problem-solve and make decisions. Must take ownership from start to finish of tasks/projects and have an “exceed expectations” attitude
- Excellence: High attention to detail and accuracy - must demonstrate error free work (i.e. preparing journal entries); ability to multi-task and have “go-getter” mentality
- High emotional IQ – very strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively across all organizational levels – from C-Level to team members, while sensitive to business needs.
- Technical - Advanced Excel and experience using ERP accounting software, Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred
- Experience with spreadsheet-based analysis and numbers-based problem solving, including the ability to synthesize financial data into accurate and precise presentations of information
