Overview
We are seeking a Safety and Equipment Supervisor to oversee and enforce safety protocols while maintaining equipment compliance. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety policies and procedures while overseeing equipment repairs. This role also provides high-level administrative support and coordination for safety and maintenance program activities. Some key responsibilities include conducting research and preparing statistical reports to support safety and maintenance initiatives. The supervisor will also serve as a training resource on safety policies and procedures, coordinating safety and maintenance projects, leading meetings, and monitoring participation and outcomes. Acting as a liaison among operating teams, drivers, and management, this position fosters collaboration across departments and contributes to driver recruiting and retention efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong understanding of safety regulations and demonstrate leadership in promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing and implementing workplace safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Maintain driver recruiting and qualification files including but not limited to; pre-employment work history, drug & alcohol clearing house checks and maintenance, MVR, and random drug & alcohol testing program maintenance.
- Providing personnel with safety-related information such as driver orientation training sessions, emergency protocols, and proper use of safety equipment.
- Reviewing existing policies and procedures to ensure they are up to date.
- Overseeing the company's daily operations and identifying opportunities for improvement of safety regulations.
- Performing safety audits and physically inspecting all work areas and jobsites to identify possible safety issues.
- Conducting risk assessments to minimize workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, or long-term health hazards.
- Preparing monthly or annual safety reports and presenting the information to management.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations.
- Plan work assignments and equipment allocations to meet transportation, operations, or production goals.
- Plan and establish transportation routes.
- Inspect vehicles, equipment, and facilities to ensure that they are safe, free of defects, and meet specifications.
- Compute and estimate hours for payroll, transportation HOS, personnel, and other supervisory requirements.
- Monitor field work to ensure that it is being performed properly and that equipment is being used as they should be.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, and customer services.
- Maintain or verify records of time, hours of service, driver files, equipment files, materials, expenditures, and crew activities.
- Interpret transportation safety regulations, and company policies and procedures for workers.
- Perform or schedule repairs and preventive maintenance of vehicles and other equipment.
- Prepare, compile, and submit reports on work activities, operations, production, and work-related accidents.
- Recommend or implement personnel actions such as employee selection, evaluation, and rewards or disciplinary actions.

Qualifications
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental safety, or a similar field.
- A certificate in occupational health and safety management.
- At least 3 years’ experience as a safety manager or health and safety manager.
- Preferred active Class A drivers license.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and occupational health standards
- Proven experience in training and development within EHS frameworks
- Experience in manufacturing environments and EPA compliance
- Proficient in report writing and root cause analysis
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in safety management and team coordination
