Job description - Legal Administrative Assistant/Receptionist
Dedicated Disability helps individuals file for Social Security Disability and SSI benefits. We help individuals in our community navigate this difficult process. We are looking foran individual who would be working part time from 20-25 hours per week to assist with the following:
- Schedules meetings, answers phones, and maintains digital and physical records.
- Prepares legal documents.
- Serves clients and legal staff by developing and monitoring cases and documentation.
- Provides administrative and secretarial support.
- Develops cases by interviewing prospective clients and reviewing information.
- Prepares status reports and keeps clients informed of case progress.
- Gathers case evidence and documentation by preparing files and inputting information from records, statements, and other documentation.
- Files records and logs incoming mail.
- Enhances legal staff effectiveness by monitoring case progress.
- Alerts legal staff of issues requiring their attention.
- Helps maintains contact with clients.
- Assist with billing and bills payable
- Builds positive client relationships through effective communication, establishing trust and maintaining confidentiality.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED;
- Some experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified and/or experience working in a social work / legal environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Ability to develop and maintain record-keeping systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
- Database and records management skills.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Ability to gather and organize legal evidence.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- No or very limited physical effort required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
