We are a fast-growing commercial lawn care company dedicated to providing high-quality landscaping services to our clients. As we expand, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Crew Leader to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role with opportunities for growth, including advancement into a Supervisor position managing multiple crews.
Position Overview
The Crew Leader will oversee daily operations for their assigned team, ensuring that all commercial and residential lawn care services are delivered efficiently and to the highest standard. This position starts at $18/hour, with pay increases based on experience. After a 90-day probationary period, the role transitions to a set salary. We aim to hire and train the ideal candidate before March 1st.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a crew to perform lawn care tasks, including mowing, edging, trimming, and landscaping.
- Operate and maintain lawn care equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and trailers.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs to ensure efficiency.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and is completed on schedule.
- Communicate with supervisors using your own smartphone and document work through company apps.
- Safely and effectively tow and back trailers.
- Work a regular schedule of Monday through Thursday, with Fridays dedicated to equipment maintenance or completing unfinished tasks.
- Be available for on-call emergency snow removal services during the winter months.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in lawn care and equipment operation is required. Leadership experience is preferred.
- Licenses and Checks: Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a drug test and background check.
- Smartphone: Ownership of a smartphone capable of app usage for communication and job documentation.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to and from the shop, where work begins and ends daily.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Uniform and Dress Code
- A company-branded shirt and hat (provided by the company) must be worn during work hours.
- High-visibility vests may be required for specific tasks.
- Employees must wear long pants (jeans or khakis) and work boots.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting Pay: $18/hour, with potential increases based on experience.
- Transition to a set salary after completing the 90-day probationary period.
- Paid Holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
- Career advancement opportunities, including promotion to a Supervisor role as the company grows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Crew Leader in lawn care or landscaping is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems or advanced landscaping techniques is a plus but not required.
