Overview:
As our Parton Services Assistant, you will earn $19.00 - $21.00 per hour depending on qualifications. The role of Patron Services Assistant is a part-time position requiring to work 15 hours per week, covering Mondays 9-2pm, Fridays 1-6pm, and Sundays 12-5pm. The Patron Services Assistant is the face and the voice of the Library—the first person we see upon entering, the greeting we hear at the other end of the phone. The Patron Services Assistant reports to the Head of Patron Services and is responsible for providing a high level of service to patrons, both internal and external. This position requires an excellent level of interpersonal skill, a friendly attitude, proficiency with technology, and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively. What You’ll Do Every Day:

Welcome patrons and visitors to the Library, providing directions and other assistance

Perform circulation procedures, such as Library card registration and renewal, material checkout, and accepting payments

Provide computer assistance with a variety of programs and tasks, web browsing, creating PDFs, printing, photocopying, faxing, and using Library apps

Handle money accurately, including collecting, counting, giving change, processing credit cards and documenting transactions

Assist and empower patrons to use the sorter for returning items and the self-check stations for checking out items

Work cooperatively on desk with staff from the Adult Services department

Process outgoing and returning LINKin loans from libraries in our consortium

Use assigned training tools to stay up-to-date with HR and IT security training requirements

Offer shelving support, clean, straighten and organize as needed
Qualifications:

Experience and confidence with computer programs and online platforms

General knowledge of Public Library Circulation practices and principles
-
A friendly, outgoing attitude and genuine interest in helping others

Knowledge of current integrated Library systems is helpful
