Commercial Lending Specialist I
Responsible for working with the commercial lenders, which includes the accurate production of appropriate loan documentation, a variety of pre-close and post-close tasks file preparation as well as ongoing servicing tasks required to maintain a current commercial loan file. This individual will coordinate loan closings with the commercial lender and assist with ongoing loan servicing needs in a timely manner.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist lenders in completing Commercial Loan Input sheets.
- Track collateral insurance and be responsible for monitoring the required insurance coverage on all commercial loans including flood insurance.
- Perform a variety of pre-close underwriting tasks such as order flood searches, title work, lien searches and credit reports.
- Perform a variety of post-close tasks such as lien perfection through mortgage, UCC and grant filings, insurance verification and scanning certain documents.
- Accurately prepare complex commercial loan documents as requested ensuring that all documents follow applicable regulations, established Deerwood Bank policies and procedures or special requirements as dictated by the loan approval authority.
- Following loan closing, will scan documents and assemble file in ECM, fund loans, and pay invoices related to loan closings.
- Correctly perfect all collateral based on the department policy and procedure. Maintain appropriate tickler(s) to ensure completion of perfection, and ensure appropriate ticklers are set up to track required information (i.e., insurance, financial statements, etc.)
- Perform file maintenance in an accurate and timely manner to maintain integrity of loan data on Phoenix system.
- Administer draw requests, and process approved loan advances and payments.
- Process paid loan files and release collateral as authorized.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Starting Pay Rate: $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
Regulatory Compliance Requirements:
Incumbent will be responsible for meeting the requirements for all statutes/regulations pertaining to or governing his/her position/department.
Independent Judgment:
The incumbent must use a high degree of independent judgment to determine loan documents required for each loan type based upon legal requirements, compliance requirements and the Bank’s lending policy. In addition, the incumbent must have sufficient knowledge and experience to audit files to determine deficiencies in documentation, compliance or policy exceptions and must be able to determine collateral insurance requirements for each loan type. The incumbent will also be responsible for the appropriate handling of customer service issues, tracking/reporting and monitoring requirements for each loan, the ability to differentiate between credit file documents and collateral documents and when it is appropriate to release collateral.
This position also requires the ability to have good problem-solving skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary:
- Preferred minimum of 2 years of experience in bank loan origination or servicing.
- Strong written and oral customer relations skills.
- Hands-on experience with a loan accounting system.
- Hands-on experience with loan documentation software, preferably Laser Pro.
- Strong organizational skills, responsibility and attention to detail.
- Effectively operate all office equipment required to support this position. To include but not limited to personal computer, scanner/copier, printer, phone system, etc.
- Working knowledge of a variety of software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Must have the ability to work closely with team members in a collaborative and supporting manner.
