Our Kids’ Summer Camp Counselor engages with campers, fostering friendships, encouraging exploration of new activities, and ensuring their overall well-being. Creativity and enthusiasm are essential in crafting memorable and meaningful camp experiences. This role involves active participation, relationship building, and most importantly, having fun while maintaining the highest standards of physical and emotional safety for every child in our care.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Observes and promotes all rules and regulations established for Summer Fun Camp and its campers.
- Build relationships and have fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every child.
- Instructs and interacts with campers during all activities.
- Escorts campers to mealtimes, classes, and recreation.
- Is prepared to handle emergencies and follows safety protocols.
- Monitors and ensures appropriate behavior.
- Works closely, cooperatively, and amicably with all staff members.
- Observes campers daily for illness and/or injuries.
- Reports all health‐related difficulties immediately.
- Maintains a clean and organized Kids’ Club space.
- Communicates effectively with parents regarding their child’s experience.
- Greets members by name when possible.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of one year prior experience working with children.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, follow, and give directions in English.
- Must have patience and the ability to adapt to different personalities and needs.
- Ability to develop engaging activities and keep children entertained.
- Should be skilled at resolving disputes and promoting positive interactions among children.
- Enthusiastic, responsible, dependable, flexible, and calm.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Standard First Aid Certification a plus.

Deerwood Country Club is a community steeped in local history and pivotal to the development of Jacksonville.
