Description : Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to manage patient accounts, oversee billing functions, and handle communication with payers. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accurate and timely resolution of claims, maintaining financial records, and facilitating the billing process, all while delivering exceptional service to our patients and insurance providers. This is a solo position within a specialized ENT clinic that also includes Audiology and an Allergy Clinic.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Payment Posting : Accurately post daily payments to patient accounts, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded.
  • Claims Resolution : Take ownership of outstanding and unprocessed medical claims, including denied claims. Proactively resolve these issues by liaising with insurance companies to ensure proper payment is received.
  • Insurance Correspondence : Effectively communicate with insurance providers to resolve issues, request reprocessing, and collect payments.
  • Patient Financial Responsibility : Identify and communicate any patient out-of-pocket expenses, including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
  • Billing and Collection Management : Oversee the entire billing and collection process, from generating statements to negotiating payment plans and ensuring accurate record-keeping of all activities.
  • Quality Assurance : Ensure that all billing and collection tasks are completed in accordance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the financial health of the practice.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration : Work closely with the Audiology and Allergy Clinic departments to ensure all charges and billing processes are accurately captured and processed, helping streamline operations across the clinic.
  • Patient Support : Assist patients with billing-related inquiries, providing clear and concise information regarding their insurance coverage and payment responsibilities.

Requirements : Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical billing within a healthcare office setting is essential.
  • A Healthcare Administration or Medical Billing Certification or Degree is essential.

  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience : At least 2 years of experience in medical billing, including processing insurance claims and performing payer follow-up.
  • Medical Coding Knowledge : Strong understanding of medical coding systems (CPT, ICD-10) and claims processing protocols.
  • Insurance Knowledge : Extensive knowledge of various medical insurance plans, including commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Attention to Detail : A keen eye for detail, ensuring all information is accurate and compliant with regulations.
  • Professional Appearance : Maintains a neat, professional appearance and exhibits professionalism in all interactions.
  • Organizational Skills : Excellent time management and organizational skills, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all aspects of billing and collections.
  • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills for dealing with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff.
  • Self-Motivated : Ability to work independently and remain focused on tasks with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Status : Full-time position

    Employee Status : Regular

    Hours per Week : 40 hours

    Shift Hours : 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM, Monday through Friday
