The Client Development Operations team at Baker Botts is seeking a Client Development Technology & Operations Manager to be based out of the firm’s Texas or UK office locations. The Client Development Technology & Operations Manager will work closely with the Director and Associate Director of CD Tech & Ops to manage and support the full ecosystem of marketing technology tools and systems at Baker Botts. This position will utilize marketing, technology (including artificial intelligence), analytical, training, and process and project management skills to support the firm in executing key client and business development initiatives to drive revenue. This is a full time, exempt position with excellent benefits.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Client Development Technology and Operations, this role will work collaboratively with many departments across the firm, including Knowledge Services, IT, Information Security, Human Resources, Recruiting, and Finance/Accounting to ensure the systems and processes are exceeding the firm’s needs. The CD Tech & Ops Manager will also apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the firm on issues related to the design, development, deployment, adoption and ongoing maintenance of the firm's marketing technologies.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as subject matter expert on key firm systems, such as Foundation, Dealcloud, Vuture, and PitchPerfect, understanding the ecosystem of not only Client Development tools, but also the firm’s other technology tools as it relates to these systems.
- Evaluate and recommend innovative ways current technology can support and improve the firm’s client and business development, and identify opportunities for improvement and synergy between systems.
- Work with AD to oversee and direct the firm's client relationship management (CRM) system strategy. Serve as a resource to lawyers and the Client Development team to design efficient and effective system processes, dashboards, and views that align with and support lawyer and firm goals.
- Responsible for ensuring data integrity within all CD technology systems, and effectively managing the resources that enable data integrity and maintenance. Ensure all system data is held in line with Firm InfoSec and Governance requirements and best practices.
- Monitor CRM performance and usage, and identify opportunities for optimization, including workflow enhancements and process improvements.
- Collaborate with Business Development and Events teams to analyze, visualize and report ROI on business development and marketing efforts, including event and mailing engagement.
- Together with Director and AD, work with Competitive Intelligence team on analytics projects in order to uncover actionable insights, enable data-driven decisions, and guide client development strategies.
- Understand, evaluate, and recommend new ways that technology can improve the firm's marketing function and contribute to the firm's business development goals by staying current with market offerings and trends on existing and prospective tools and resources.
- Work closely with internal cross-departmental teams and external vendors to manage the development, implementation, and integration of approved new requirements to the firm's marketing systems.
- Serve as a resource for educating others and gaining buy-in for both new and existing marketing technology platforms and programs, by creating and maintaining all marketing technology training and reference materials and guides. Deliver CD training on Dealcloud and Foundation for new hires, as well as ongoing bootcamps for existing users. Serve as the primary advanced troubleshooting contact for marketing technologies, and collaborate closely with Database Administrator on management of ongoing service tickets.
- Collaborate closely with KS Department and serve as liaison between departments on marketing-related programs and platforms.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, computer science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five or more years of experience in marketing, business development, technology, and/or project management. Experience in a professional services firm and certification or continuing education credits in project management are preferred.
- Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and experience database management systems required, with preference for Foundation, Vuture, and Dealcloud-specific experience.
- Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or other AI tools.
- High degree of attention to detail, accuracy, and curiosity, including the ability to unpack complex technological challenges.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to train and influence others.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience with both self-motivating and working independently, across time zones, as well as with operating with cross-functional teams, in a highly collaborative and professional environment.
Extent of Public Contact (Within and outside the Firm)
- Extensive contact with lawyers and staff in all locations at all levels.
- High degree of contact with the Pricing, Financial Services and Knowledge Services teams.
- Moderate degree of contact with the Diversity and Inclusion and Professional Development teams.
- Moderate degree of contact with clients.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to work at a computer for extensive periods of time.
- Must be able to routinely lift and carry event materials and other items up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to function in a standard office environment.
Working Condition and Environment
- Work is normally performed in a typical office environment, which includes the ability to visit face-to-face and virtually with firm lawyers, staff and external contacts.
- Position is full-time and requires a five-day work week and standard hours as outlined in the Firm policy manual.
- Overtime will be required on occasion including evenings and weekends, and some limited travel may be required to perform the essential functions of the job.
- This role may be hybrid and will require a minimum of three days per week (or at least 60%) present in the office, and up to two days per week (40%) may be performed remotely.
