Senior Quality Engineer – Defense Manufacturing Industry
Amotec is conducting a search for a Senior Quality Engineer on behalf of a multi-billion dollar defense manufacturing company located between Springfield, MA, and Worcester, MA.
Position Overview:
The Senior Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations while driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role will support critical quality processes, engage with customers on inspections, and champion product quality across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement quality plans, including inspections, sampling, and first article reviews (FAIR).
- Serve as a liaison for customer source inspections and ensure all requirements are met.
- Manage nonconforming materials and lead corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Interpret ASTM, Military, DFARS, FAR specifications, and blueprints to ensure compliance.
- Conduct material certification reviews and ensure alignment with specifications.
- Prepare and respond to customer corrective action requests (CAR), including detailed reporting (e.g., RCCA, VIRS, VPARS).
- Drive process improvements through the use of continuous improvement tools.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure adherence to standards like AS9100 and ISO9001.
- Mentor inspectors and ensure qualification of personnel in key roles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or a technical field).
- 5 years of quality engineering experience, including auditing and process improvement.
- Proficiency in blueprint interpretation, machining, and ANSI Y14.5 GD&T.
- ASQ Quality Engineer Certification preferred.
- Experience with NDT (RT, PT, VT), welding inspection, and defense industry standards is a plus.
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Excel, Power BI, and SharePoint.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a DoD clearance.
