Job Overview
This position is responsible for assisting the Customer Care Team Players to successfully provide efficient and courteous service to fair attendees.
Our Customer Care Team Players help us greet visitors, answer questions, provide directions, address concerns, maintain lost items, and move people safely through the biggest and best summer event in San Diego County. At Information Booths, inside the Guest Services Office, at concerts and performances, in the elevators, on trams, or among the crowds throughout the Del Mar Fairgrounds, our Customer Care Team works hard to ensure our guests have a terrific time and feel comfortable, safe, and well-informed during their days and nights at the Fair.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Maintain a professional appearance in compliance with the Employee Handbook and uniform guidelines.
- Model the behaviors, procedures and processes expected of a Customer Care Team Players.
- Assist in setup, maintenance, and teardown of signage, equipment, and employee break room.
- Assist guests with mobility or sensory needs.
- Provide other related duties as assigned, as needed.
- Conduct briefings and training at the beginning of each shift.
- Staying well-informed on information and programming at the Fair to be able to answer questions/concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses.
- Communicate effectively with others and pass down pertinent information to the Customer Care Team Players.
- Assist and guide the Customer Care Team Players, offering correction as needed.
- Assist others when needed in customer relations.
- Welcomes guests in a professional and warm manner, ensuring a positive experience through a friendly demeanor and positive attitude.
- Interact with guests — in person, on the phone, or via email — to resolve issues and provide accurate information, directions, and assistance.
- Assist with identifying and maintaining lost items.
- Ensure that all employees receive breaks and meal breaks as needed.
- Ensure that the safety of staff and fairgoers is of utmost importance and report concerns to a Customer Care Team coordinator or your supervisor.
- Work with other fair departments and units to schedule care team members for events and maintain communication with employees and patrons to ensure optimal fair experience.
Promotes the District's F.A.I.R. values by creating a quality guest experience for both internal and external customers.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills, good judgement, and professionalism, organized with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and make decisions under pressure and then move on.
- Ability to interact with fair patrons in a calm, pleasant, professional manner to address their concerns.
- Ability to work as a team.
- Open availability for the run of the fair, including nights, weekends and holidays if needed.
Working Conditions
- Work is indoors and outdoors.
- May be exposed to weather conditions.
- Job duties require sitting, standing, and/or walking for long periods, including in large crowds.
- Work involves some loud noises, such as during concerts, shows, in the carnival areas, and in large crowds.
- Must deal at times with rude and irritated customers in a polite and calm manner to try and resolve situations and concerns.
- Must be able to address issues with Customer Care Team Players as needed when they are not following rules and/or procedures.
