Job Overview
This position service and repair heavy equipment, heavy duty trucks, trams, front end loaders, side loaders, forklifts, light towers, generators, street sweepers, vacuum trucks, garbage trucks, light duty trucks, sport utility vehicles, passenger cars, and other various facilities support equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
• Performs diagnostics, mechanical, and electrical trouble shooting and repairs of all types of vehicles and equipment.
• Operates and inspects equipment and vehicles to diagnose defects.
• Dismantles and reassembles equipment and vehicles using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Diagnoses faults or malfunctions to determine repairs using test equipment and calibration devices.
• Examines parts for damage or excessive wear and repairs and replaces parts.
• Overhauls and tests equipment and vehicles to ensure operating efficiency.
• Installs, replaces, or change parts and attachments according to vehicle and equipment specifications.
• Tests equipment and vehicles after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
• Responds to the locations of breakdowns, accidents, or vehicle issues.
• Researches and prepares parts inventory for services and repairs.
• Practices good physical work methods, utilizes good work habits, and meets established production standards.
• Uses standard methods, practices, supplies, tools, and equipment to complete tasks.
• Wears proper personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, googles) and works in a safe work environment at all times.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and ensures a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed.
Qualifications
• One year of varied experience as a journey level equipment or automotive mechanic.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.
Working Conditions
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risk that require following basic safety precautions.
• Exposed to dust, dirt, fumes, chemicals, and unpleasant odors. Moves for sustained periods.
• Moves objects at least 50 pounds.
• Works a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
