Job Standards
Associate’s degree in information technology or related field or 3 years of experience in lieu of degree and previous work experience demonstrating competence in the I.T. field. Prior public sector experience is preferred. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on county business. All required licenses and certifications must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Essential Functions
- Manage IT Requests with ability to prioritize, be effective and respond to requests in a timely manner
- Setup/Implement new computers - hardware/software/configure for system users
- Maintain documentation on application installation procedures and troubleshooting solutions
- Maintain and keep current computer hardware/software updated
- Install and Maintain Cruiser hardware installs and maintenance (Cameras/PC/Network Devices/Applications/Software)
- Support Body-Worn Cameras and Video Management Systems
- Support Cellular Network Connections/Devices
- Network Security – Advanced knowledge of Active Directory / Windows File Sharing
- Train End-Users on new and current Software/Technologies
- Implement new applications/software
- Printer/copier/fax maintenance/installation/troubleshooting
- Maintain hardware/software inventory
- Remote Desktop Support Software
- Handle complex tasks, lead smaller projects
- Other duties as assigned
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs special assignments as directed
- Maintains professional training
- Participates and assists with a variety of special projects as requested
- Performs related essential and non-essential functions as needed
- Any other duties as assigned by the Delaware County Sheriff

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Equipment:Ability to operate a variety of office equipment such as computer, copier, telephone, calculator, FAX machine, and other equipment as necessary to perform duties.
Critical Skills/Expertise:
- Excellent knowledge of PC and desktop hardware.
- Excellent knowledge of PC internal components.
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of equipment support techniques.
- Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards.
- Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
- Excellent knowledge of Active Directory (Domain Usernames and Passwords)
- Extensive knowledge of Office 365 apps and environment
- VOIP phone system knowledge (director/communicator/phone setup) preferred
- Knowledge of network protocols, hardware, and troubleshooting techniques.

The IT Support Technician is required to complete routine activities that are broad in scope and have several basic responsibilities. These tasks and responsibilities generally require the resolution of end-user problems and decision-making within the scope of his/her authority.
RESPONSIBILITY
An individual carries out routine or recurring assignments or tasks. Errors usually result in time loss in other organizational units, causing substantial inconvenience to the public or embarrassment to the employing organization.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS
The individual has daily and frequent contact with co-workers, public officials, employees from other public and private sector organizations, and the general public. The purpose of these contacts is to guide, direct, review, and assure the progress of work assigned, coordinate services, manage job development and referrals, and handle questions about the department, its actions, and issues that impact the Sheriff’s capacity to oversee the department.
Physical Activity: The individual performs mostly sedentary work, which may require lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds. The individual must have a high ability of manual dexterity, talking, hearing, reaching, and walking.
Visual Activity: Performs work where the seeing job is close to the eyes and requires viewing a computer terminal and proofreading information.
