Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Business Operations, the part-time Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day administration of Human Resources functions ensuring efficient and smooth operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Uphold the highest quality of the guest experience through equitable, respectful interactions that meet the unique needs of each guest and team member.
  • Be conversant in the museum’s mission, exhibits, collections, programs, and events to enhance the guest experience.
  • HR Administration: Maintain employee records and HR documents, manage HR databases, and prepare reports on HR metrics as needed.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, resolve workplace issues, and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Performance Management: Assist in the development and implementation of performance management processes, including evaluations and feedback sessions.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and coordinate employee development programs to enhance skills and career growth.
  • Policy updates: Support the updating and communication of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Assist in the administration of employee compensation and benefits programs, including payroll support and benefits enrollment. Review and process all benefit invoices.
  • Culture and Engagement: Promote a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives and team-building activities. Distribute internal communications.
  • Volunteer Management: recruiting, onboarding, tracking hours, communication with volunteers, and manage volunteer database.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; pursuing or completed coursework in Human Resources is a plus.
  • 2 years of human resources experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with HR/payroll software.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and HR regulations.

Schedule: This is a regular part-time position defined by the museum as 25 hours per week, exclusive of a daily 30-minute unpaid lunch period. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 9 am to 2:30 pm but may vary to accommodate special events, programs, or projects.
