What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Instructor position at Delaware Museum of Nature and Science?
Summary : Under the supervision of the Camp & Scout Manager, Assistant Camp Coordinator and Summer Camp Lead Instructor, the Summer Camp Instructor presents an educational, inclusive, engaging, and enjoyable experience for children ages 4-14 years old.
Essential Functions :
- Uphold the highest quality of the guest experience through equitable, respectful interactions that meet the unique needs of each guest and team member.
- Execute camp lessons, crafts, and activities alongside and in collaboration with other Summer Camp Instructors.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and curious group culture among campers.
- Setup and cleanup of camp activities; maintain cleanliness of museum areas used for camp programming.
- Communicate summer camp needs daily with the Camp & Scout Manager, Assistant Camp Coordinator and Summer Camp Lead Instructor, the Summer Camp Instructor including materials, content questions, camper and group behavior questions, scheduling, etc.
- Identify the unique needs of campers and be able to provide positive and inclusive accommodations with the help of the Camp & Scout Manager, Assistant Camp Coordinator and Summer Camp Lead Instructor, the Summer Camp Instructor as needed.
- Upon request, assist with maintaining accurate records including incident reports, sign-in / sign-out sheets, and daily attendance.
- Enforce all emergency procedures and safety guidelines associated with the camp program.

Schedule : This is a temporary, seasonal position with a variable schedule between Monday through Friday, 9 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m. The schedule may also vary to accommodate before and after care staffing needs.
