What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Riding Instructor position at Sunset Valley Farm, Inc.?
Work Experience:
- Must have riding experience for 5 years and must be able to walk, trot, canter, and lunge a horse with and without a student
- Must have necessary communication skills to teach young riders how to groom, tack up horse as well as all the necessary riding aids.
- Previous horse camp counselor experience or experience with teaching riding lessons a plus
- Mature/experienced High school students and College students encouraged to apply
- Training provided
- Opportunity to convert to permanent position as riding instructor year round.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Neat and professional demeanor
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate to the children how to groom, tack up horses
- Give basic riding instruction with emphasis on using proper riding aids and developing balance while riding
- Work well with other instructors to ensure all children are safe around the horses
- Care for the horses after riding
- Clean up all supplies around stable after camp
- Prepare necessary equipment for next day
Requirements:
- Must be punctual, reliable and have reliable transportation
- Upbeat, positive personality
- Must love working outdoors and working with children
- Must be able to work all 8 weeks of camp Monday through Friday- hours 8:30 - 1:30. Afternoon shift 1:30-5:00. May work one shift or both.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
