Description

Job Description:

The CAD/CAM Technician is responsible for the performance of all CAD/CAM work performed at Det 9 / TRSS Luke AFB, AZ and will report directly to the Site Manager. CAD/CAM Technician will use industry standard software in the daily operation performance of duties assigned.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Development of one-of-a-kind products, prototypes, and proof of concepts, supporting of highly technical, very complex, and emerging systems
  • Development with limited or non-existent subject matter expertise
  • Development with poor or undocumented content.
  • Development for customer(s) who are unsure of what is wanted or unable to clearly communicate requirement(s).
  • Development driven by weapon system or subsystem implementation that is subject to changing priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in CAD/CAM.
  • Knowledge of fabrication machinery, tools, and equipment to include CNC-driven machines, 3D printing, laser cutting/engraving.
  • Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, or construction design and fabrication techniques and standards.
  • Ability to create industry standard blueprints/technical drawings/illustrations.
  • Independently can plan and accomplish complete projects of broad scope and complexity.
  • Serve as an expert in CAD/CAM or related engineering.
  • Devise creative approaches to accomplish work by resolving design, operational problems and make decisions in situation where standard engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable.
  • Prepare designs and specifications for various complex components or systems.
  • Plan approaches to solve design problems.
  • Conceive and recommend new design techniques.
  • Resolve design problems with contract or Government personnel assuring, compatibility of design(s) with other parts of the system(s).
  • Design and coordinate test set-ups, experiments, and prototypes to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary designs, using untried and untested measurement techniques.
  • Improve the performance of equipment, components and systems used.
  • Advise equipment, component, and system users on redesigns to solve unique operational deficiencies.
  • Arrange for fabrication of pilot models and prototypes, determining test procedures and designs of special test equipment.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Two years (2) minimum work experience in a design/manufacturing environment using CAD/CAM software to create industry standard technical drawings, illustrations, and bill of materials.  
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Security Responsibilities:

Compliance with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials, in any form. Shall be assigned specific responsibility for Information Security by immediate supervisor or department management. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. Technician shall execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

 

Language Skills:

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex word and technical documents/diagrams. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language professional journals, technical procedures, government specifications or industry standards. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to produce, understand, and interpret mathematical equations and algorithms associated with simulation modeling and design.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under the training device.
  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to travel domestic and international as required.

 

Work Environment:

  • Will work in a typical training device shop floor environment.
  • Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock.
  • Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
