Foreman

Job Description:

The Foreman is responsible for the performance of all work performed at Det 9 / TRSS Luke AFB, AZ and/or alternate site locations and will report directly to the Site Manager for contract services. The Foreman shall have full authority to act for DRG in coordination with, or as delegated by, the Site Manager on all contract matters relating to daily operation of the contract while executing at an alternate location.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Act as the Site Manager in the Site Managers absence.
  • Supervise all work at Det 9 / TRSS Luke AFB and/or alternate locations.
  • Available to meet with DRG customers during normal business hours for a period of 30 minutes.
  • Available to meet with DRG customers after normal duty hours within a three (3) hour time period.
  • Manage the site operations and all personnel assigned to the Det 9 / TRSS work force in the absence of the Site Manager
  • Acts as principal liaison between the assigned government Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and the ACC TRSS Program Manager in the absence of the Site Manager.
  • Acts as the Site Contract diplomat, liaison, and COR Point of contact for the USAF customer in the absence of the Site Manager.
  • Ensure contract compliance for all site operations and maintains good working relationships with all customers.
  • Ensure on time submittal of monthly device utilization reports and all other reports as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that adequate safety and security standards are established and maintained.
  • Responsible for monthly submittals of status reports to meet CDRL requirements.
  • Attends necessary required meetings as required or directed by the Program Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Project/Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, or Business.
  • Knowledge of aerospace, automotive, or construction CAD/CAM design and fabrication techniques, methods, and standards.
  • Knowledge of fabrication machinery, tools, and equipment to include CNC-driven machinery; computer technology and programming; electrical/electronic systems circuitry.
  • Can prepare designs and specification for various complex equipment items or systems.
  • Can plan approaches to solve design problems.
  • Can conceive and recommend new design techniques.
  • Can resolve design problems with contract personnel and assuring compatibility of design with other part of the system.
  • Can design and coordinate test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove feasibility of preliminary designs.
  • Can use untried/untested measurement techniques.
  • Can advise equipment users on redesigns to solve unique operational deficiencies.
  • Can plan approaches and conduct various experiments to develop equipment or systems characterized by difficult performance requirements.
  • Can arrange for fabrication of pilot models and determine testing procedures and methods.


Qualifications:

  • Five years (5) minimum work experience in managing/supervising in an industrial manufacturing environment; independently planning and accomplishing complete projects of broad scope and complexity.
  • Accomplished in exercising considerable creativity and judgement to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems.
  • Make decisions in situation where standard engineering methods, procedures and techniques may not be applicable.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Desirable Qualification:

  • Experience in commercial or military aerospace industrial complex
  • Experience as a team leader or project leader on multi-disciplined team.
  • Understanding of Instructional System Design (ISD) as related to aircrew training for commercial or military aircraft.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide counsel, advice and guidance to management, subordinates and other internal groups on technical matters including the capabilities and limitations of current technology, facility capability and costing of effort as these items pertain to quality and process improvement. Responsible for scheduling personnel, managing labor and material expenditures. Attends meetings, manages delivery schedules, and coordinates configuration management activities. Ensure a safe and secure work environment is established and maintained.

 

Security Responsibilities:

Compliance with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials, in any form. Shall be assigned specific responsibility for Information Security by immediate supervisor or department management. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. Technician shall execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

 

Language Skills:

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex word and technical documents/diagrams. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language professional journals, technical procedures, government specifications or industry standards. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to produce, understand, and interpret mathematical equations and algorithms associated with simulation modeling and design.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under the training device.
  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to travel domestic and international as required.

 

Work Environment:

  • Will work in a typical training device shop floor environment.
  • Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock.
  • Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
