Job Details

The Computer Specialist is responsible for supporting all computer related requirements to include but not limited to software, hardware, and operating system(s) work performed at Det 9 / TRSS Luke AFB, AZ and is a direct report to the Site Manager.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Uses specialized computer software and/or hardware to develop, integrate and edit instructional text, audio, graphics, animation, and video for interactive presentations. 

  • Uses appropriate programming/branching logic and screen layout and remediation/feedback techniques. 

  • Implements quality control and review and revision procedures throughout the courseware development process.  

  • Designing and implementing modifications to existing computer programs and software code, analyzing performance of existing computer programs and software code, and taking action to correct deficiencies based on input from users and other stakeholders 

  • Monitoring the operation of computer programs and responding to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and software coding. 

  • Applying judgement in devising program logic and in selecting and adapting standard programming procedures. 

  • Solving conventional programming problems. 

  • Reviewing and analyzing detailed software program specifications. 

  • Working independently under specified objectives. 

  • Testing and documenting work. 

  • Writing and maintaining operator instructions for computer programs. 

  • Perform all other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications and Experience


Qualifications: 

Two years minimum work experience in:

  • Programming languages such as C, C , C#, Python, or Java
  • Using and programming microprocessors and micro-controllers
  • Developing, modifying, and maintaining computer programs and software code
  • Designing and implementing modifications to existing computer programs and software code
  • Analyzing performance of existing computer programs and software code and making corrections based on user and stakeholder input
  • Monitoring the operation of computer programs and addressing issues by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and software coding
  • Applying judgment in devising program logic and adapting standard programming procedures
  • Solving conventional programming problems
  • Reviewing and analyzing detailed software program specifications
  • Working independently under specified objectives
  • Testing and documenting work
  • Writing and maintaining operator instructions for computer programs

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Programming, Mathematics, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent technical certifications. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  • Current Security (Plus) certification compliant with ISO 17024 standards and US DoD directives 8140/8570.01-M requirements.

Security Responsibilities: 

Compliance with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials, in any form. Shall be assigned specific responsibility for Information Security by immediate supervisor or department management. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. Technician shall execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information. 

 

Language Skills: 

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex word and technical documents/diagrams. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language professional journals, technical procedures, government specifications or industry standards. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.  

 

Mathematical Skills: 

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to produce, understand, and interpret mathematical equations and algorithms associated with simulation modeling and design. 

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.  

 

Physical Demands: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Must be able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.  
  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.  
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under the training device.  
  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment. 
  • Must be able to distinguish colors. 
  • Must be able to travel domestic and international as required. 

 

Work Environment: 

  • Will work in a typical training device shop floor environment.  
  • Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock. 
  • Will at times be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises. 

Education and/or Experience:
