We are seeking a Tax Manager with 5 years experience at a public accounting firm with client management & technical tax expertise in preparing various returns, federal tax compliance, and planning. This individual will be responsible for managing multiple clients & tax engagements and delivering quality client service. This position has significant growth potential and requires strong technical skills combined with excellent interpersonal communication to deliver quality service for our clients. CPA licensed required.
The position is based in- office at our Frederick or Leesburg office locations.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and growing our individual tax department with our team (managed business, new business, and personal billings) according to the individual performance plan.
Manage staff workflow, delegate work to staff and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm's policies
Provide technical tax support for the staff and other team members
Analyze client needs and proactively propose solutions, focusing on delivering value-added services.
Review personal, tax returns, including more complex cases
Estate and trust experience a plus
Oversee the completion of tax compliance and filing deadlines for the responsible client list.
Take ownership of multiple engagements and understand the significance of operational effectiveness and firm profitability.
Manage client expectations, understanding current and long-term business objectives and how specific transactions impact their business.
Serve as the point of contact for client relationships in the responsible client list, providing exceptional client service through accessibility and proactive interaction.
Manage budgets for compliance projects through efficient use of staff and resources.
Communicate proactively with clients.
Provide feedback, establish goals, and create career paths for all staff levels.
Display leadership beyond the immediate workgroup by participating in firm initiatives.
Strong communication and presentation skills leading to productivity and positive results.
Maintain and expand client relationships.
Prepare invoices and assist with collections for the responsible client list.
Handle administrative responsibilities in areas such as systems, training, policies and procedures, and recruiting.
Manage and mentor staff. Assist with recruitment, training, and staff development.
Build business relationships within the industry and related associations to enhance the D&S brand and grow the book of business.
Continue to develop industry specialization and expertise in chosen fields.
Job Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related program
CPA certification is required.
Ability to manage multiple client engagements and prioritize work effectively.
At least 5 years of recent relevant public accounting, tax, and review experience (experience with trusts is a plus)
At least 3 years of management experience with the ability to lead and develop professional staff
Salary : $90,000 - $140,000
