Position Purpose
The VP DTC Experience drives the vision and strategy for consumer experiences across all properties to achieve business objectives and oversees the development, training, and execution of guest-facing programs. By fostering a culture of exceptional hospitality, this leader motivates their organization to deliver unique, memorable and personal experiences that build brand loyalty. The VP DTC Experience also manages the budgets and performance for Tasting Room, Hospitality, Events, and Merchandise operations and ensures compliance with all Human Resources, Safety, Legal, and Procurement standards.
Functional Responsibility
- Oversees, directs, and manages activities and the leadership team's performance in areas of responsibility
- Drives and models company culture and holds self, peers, and direct reports accountable for demonstrating a constructive company culture through influential, personal behavior and actions
- Communicates the company's vision and mission; develops and implements the strategies that guide the direction of the business in areas of responsibility
- Identifies, analyzes, and drives the competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments, best practices, standards, etc.; maintains awareness of regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continually improve operations
- Owns and oversees the development of the rolled-up budget, and conducts financial planning and analysis to ensure budget and other financial goals are in line with business strategy
- Directs the optimization of resources and results; collaborates with cross-functional leaders to position and integrate business functions and remove obstacles to accomplish key objectives and high impact initiatives
- Drives strategic alignment, guides leadership team, and works cross-functionally in the development of staffing plans; attracts, motivates, and retains a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve the company's goals and objectives
- Promotes and ensures a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
- Aligns leaders on change initiatives, leads the way, and prepares the company for success in a continually changing environment
- Fosters a work environment that encourages creative thinking, promotes flexibility, and drives innovation
- Ensures that employee issues, concerns, and complaints are handled in accordance with company policies and applicable legal advice for clear, consistent messaging and resolution
- Ensures compliance and consistent application of company policies, initiatives, and decisions
- Inspires, guides, and develops direct reports; identifies and mentors successor; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficiencies
Essential Duties
- Responsible for the onsite guest experience for enterprise-wide hospitality functions, including tasting rooms, restaurants, events centers, and other facilities for all Delicato Family Wines brands
- Designs innovative and dynamic guest experiences that draw new and existing customers to the property; effectively manages reservations process to optimize capacity while maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction
- Programs tastings, menus and wine lists to achieve targets for volume, sales, mix and gross profit; sets pricing to maximize sales in all channels and proactively updates and communicates changes in offerings to the experience team
- Drives conversion to maximize conversion to purchase, club and database and motivates team to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual goals
- Trains team to ensure the highest level of guest service and satisfaction; ensures staff delivers storytelling and consistent messaging to captivate and engage visitors
- Implements effective systems for beverage and service labor cost controls to attain established metrics; adjusts purchasing and staffing guidelines to meet changing levels of business activity
- Manages destination marketing to drive visitation; develops a compelling calendar of property events and activities that excite and engage visitors and members

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- BA/BS required; Hospitality Management focus preferred
- 10 years of experience leading a team in a premier guest service environment
- Fine Wine Retail and Fine Dining management experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong wine knowledge
- Strong business acumen demonstrated by a minimum of five years P&L Management
- Excellent communication skills
- Media training preferred
Certificates and Licenses
- Industry certifications (WSET, Court of MS, Society of Wine Educators) preferred
- TIPS, CPR and Food Safe certified preferred
Working Conditions
- General office, restaurant, and tasting room environment with occasional travel
- Extended Hours
- Occasionally may be required to lift and carry cases of wine
- May need to determine color, taste and smell of wine using eyes, tongue, and nose

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $151,842.72 to $237,497.52. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
