What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Operations Manager position at Delta Air Lines, Inc.?
The Regional Operations Manager (ROM) is the primary base manager & subject matter expect for the DTW pilot base. The individual manages a team of Administrative Assistants assigned to their region.
The ROM duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Interfaces with leaders from all airports in the region, attend regional airport meetings, and manages cross-divisional coordination with Airport Customer Service (ACS), In-Flight Services (IFS), other Chief Pilot Offices, Corporate Safety, Security and Compliance (CSSC), Line Maintenance, and Corporate Real Estate (CRE).
- Is responsible for representing Delta Air Lines at meetings with regional airport management, including governmental agencies, e.g., Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), Department of Airports, and Airport Police to ensure regulatory compliance and operational reliability.
- Manages base facilities at the DTW base. This encompasses working closely with CRE to maintain the local infrastructure to include managing relocations or replacement furnishings when required.
- Provides critical continuity in the DTW region, with both line pilots and cross-divisional counterparts. This is particularly important given the pilot manager staff model rotates pilot managers regularly.
- Manages a region operatonal & capital budget of more than $100K plus and is responsible for all spending decisions. Budget will fluctuate dependent upon projects or initiatives within the budget year.
- Reponsible for the region technology infrastructure specific to each base. ROM works closely with Delta IT to ensure equipment is maintained and functioning properly to include replacement and approval of necessary equipment.
- Manages required compliance items for pilots in the DTW pilot base. This includes but is not limited to FAA medicals, FAA Certifications, Passport and Visa renewals, required immunizations, distance learning or QCQ and the issuance of deficiency notifications when appropriate.
- Manages the administration process related to sensitive security documentation including crew IDs, Known Crewmember and SIDA badges if applicable.
- Mentors and manages the region administrative staff (direct report, merit employees) training, time & attendance and performance. Additionally, manages the base staffing for base pilot management to maintain required flying levels while establishing adequate office coverage. Requires coordination with Crew Resources to ensure monthly schedules are appropriately submitted and managed.
- Collaborates with base CP/ACP on base level communication of time sensitive information or blast communication provided to local & system pilots (if applicable). Develops regional communication to ensure maximum operational compliance and crew safety/security.
- ROM is source liaison and resource for pilots specific to pilot benefits to include disability, FMLA, DPMA, DIF, SICK, etc.
- Is the main interface with Pilot Assist at Flight Operations headquarters to ensure regional operational and administrative issues are well known and supported within his/her regional bases.
- Coordinates family ilness/death to include death of employee and other serious family matters in coordination with CPO & applicable departments.
