How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Reporting to the General Manager - Global Communications, Technical Operations (TOP), the Program Leader– Global Communications, TOP, is responsible for executing TOP’s strategic initiatives to inform, inspire and mobilize its people and enhance a safety-conscious environment for the division’s 13,000 maintenance technicians, inspectors, engineers and other aviation maintenance professionals. As part of the Global Communications team, you will partner with communications counterparts to ensure consistency of messaging across internal and external communications channels at Delta. This critical thinker excels at understanding operational policies, anticipating communication needs and effectively developing, writing and executing communications strategy. Able to work collaboratively with peers and leaders as well as cross-functionally on a variety of employee communications topics and projects ranging from safety to employee policies. This role will manage daily operational communications needs for the TechOps division from drafting and editing to posting across various platforms.

What You Need To Succeed (minimum Qualifications)

  • Ability to work in office at G.O. or Delta TechOps office locations three to four days per week
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, adhering to different timelines and working with many cross-functional partners to ensure alignment and consistency within each project
  • Ability to develop effective communications to tell a story and bring to life broad strategic messages
  • Stay current on leading trends to deliver practical and insightful communication recommendations.
  • A natural storyteller—a highly articulate and persuasive writer and communicator with fluency and agility to quickly develop communications strategies. Must have the ability find the meaningful angle to a message and the ability to make connections to news and happenings throughout our business and industry, leveraging our brand style and tone to effectively shape messages and content for target audiences.
  • Must have established writing abilities, developed organization skills and dedication to teamwork.
  • Must be curious, highly motivated, people oriented, and reliable.
  • Must be able to embrace diverse people, thinking and styles
  • Working level of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is essential.
  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours to support irregular operations, crisis response and on-call rotations.
  • Willing to travel to different employee locations.

  • Focus on measurement and analysis to drive results and prioritize work among competing initiatives

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field (preferred) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, engagement, or related field.
  • (If transferring internally) Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience creating social media content
  • Graphic design, photography and video editing skills
  • Communications experience in the airline industry or operational environment with frontline audiences
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining constructive relationships with and supporting senior-level business leaders
  • Proven writing expertise and the ability to effectively reflect a leader's individual voice while aligning it with corporate tone.
