GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Community Development Technician provides essential administrative assistance and technical support within the Community Development Department. This role is pivotal in facilitating communication and coordination between the County, its departments, consultants, developers, and the public regarding land use and permit reviews.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the public with gathering information about land use regulations and application process.
- Conduct initial completeness review of applications communicating and noting any additional items that are needed for a complete application.
- Utilize applicable data bases for project research and tracking including, but not limited to Geographic Information System (GIS), permit process, recorded documents, and assessor data.
- Prepare public notices, mailings and other administrative communications as required for the department.
- Assist with database implementation and maintenance.
- Provide administrative support to the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment meetings.
- Coordinate pre-application meetings and prepare application files.
- Attend meetings and events as scheduled (including evenings) taking accurate action minutes as assigned.
- Communicate professionally and serve as a positive representative of departments and the County, including respecting sensitive/confidential communications and documents.
- Perform a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to correspondence, scheduling, records maintenance, website updates, creating and maintaining logs, activity and event arrangements.
- Comply with Colorado Ant-Discrimination Act (CADA) requirements for documents and maintain the departmental website and forms.
- Courteously receive and respond to individuals providing accurate information and service as appropriate; screen and direct to appropriate person or department in a professional manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent college coursework in a relevant field for planning, engineering, land surveying, land use, etc. or four years of relevant experience in a local government setting is strongly preferred.
Experience:
Level I
- At least three (3) years’ intermediate level demonstrated administrative support experience is generally required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Active and unrestricted State of Colorado driver’s license is required or must be obtained within three (3) months if moving from another state.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.05 - $23.15 per hour
