Support Washington Dental Service as a Legal Intern and gain hands-on experience in assisting the Legal Department in managing the day-to-day legal affairs of Washington Dental Service, Delta Dental of Washington, and their affiliated entities. Under the supervision of the Chief Legal Officer, and in support of and in collaboration with the Senior Counsel and Compliance & Privacy Officer, you'll contribute by providing legal services and support to business partners and executives in relation to a broad range of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues, while developing key professional skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

This non-exempt internship pays an hourly rate of $28.00 and is full-time (40 hours per week). Interns are expected to work during our standard business hours, which are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Interns are typically required to work onsite at our Seattle office every Tuesday, with the option for remote work on other days as determined by the Chief Legal Officer.

- Reviewing, drafting, and managing agreements and other legal documents.
- Conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda.
- Serving as a contributor to internal clients in relation to legal, regulatory, and/or business matters (e.g. privacy, regulatory compliance, contracting, and otherwise).
- Participate in special projects as requested.
- Practical experience in delivering legal services to support our dental benefits business, our technology services business, and other critical operations of Washington Dental Service and its affiliates.
- Building meaningful connections with colleagues, mentors, and other professionals.
- Applying academic knowledge to address real-world legal matters and deliver results.
- Currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school.
- High level of personal integrity and professional ethics; timely fulfills commitments.
- Ability to conduct legal research, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Well organized, with a positive attitude and a desire to learn.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to work independently, but comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Displays a high level of accountability by effectively managing tasks independently, meeting goals, and delivering high-quality work while staying dedicated to team objectives.
- Enthusiastic about collaborating with diverse teams, contributing to an inclusive environment, and seeking opportunities for growth and improvement within the internship and organization.
