Parent Educator (Home Visitation)
Reports to Director of Programs/Program Manager
The?Parent Educator will provide monthly home visits and group connections to families with the goal of reducing and preventing child developmental delays by assessing the needs of families and identifying support services to pregnant women and to families/caregivers of children under the age of 5 years, particularly those at risk for abuse and neglect.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, public administration, health care administration or a related field
- Three years related experience
- Good oral and written communication Skills
- Working skills with Microsoft Office Suite, email, and Adobe pdf.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Conduct individual family home visits and group connections with regularity and consistency, individualizing across diverse families to address individual family needs.?
- Manage caseload, keeping accurate records and ensuring that all related administrative tasks are completed and up to date.?
- Complete, in a timely fashion, statistical data on families as required by funding agency.?
- Provide the evidence-based curriculum and emotional support to families.?
- Analyze, reinforce, and support positive interactions, model appropriate caregiver interactions, educate caregiver on developmentally appropriate practice.?
- Maintain an effective support service for women and children with the aim of enabling the women to develop the skills and resources necessary to?help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.?
- Interpret and chart progress of children and families, including child development, interpreting family dynamics, and assisting families in determining their ongoing needs.?
- Design and participate in recruitment activities especially promoting increased awareness of services by educating the public and linking with other programs.?
- Maintain confidentiality of all families; communicate orally and in writing to parents, professionals, and other agencies.?
- Encourage the growth in the self-confidence of participants by linking them with other specific services providing opportunities for participation in groups, classes, courses and counseling.?
- Screen children for developmental milestones; interpret screening results and observations to parents, supervisor, and professionals; and report to supervisor screening results that indicate cautions or delays.?
- Plan and implement activities for families and children that are culturally sensitive and developmentally appropriate both in individual and group settings.?
- Assist families in the establishment of routine well baby care, encourage, and track the completion of routine childhood immunizations.?
