Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma required
  2. Experience working in a school or educational setting, particularly in roles involving parent engagement or records management, preferred.
  3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of parents, students, and staff.
  5. Proficiency in office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and student information systems (SAM/MSIS).



Reports to: Principal and Counselor

 

Job Goal: The Parent Liaison plays a critical part in building strong relationships between parents, the school, and the community, while also ensuring the accurate management and maintenance of student records. The individual in this role will work to foster positive communication and engagement with parents, assist in resolving their concerns, and support student success by connecting families with necessary resources. Additionally, they will perform clerical duties related to the maintenance of student records, attendance, and other administrative tasks.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSITILITIES:

 

  1. Serve as the primary contact for parents, addressing concerns, answering questions, and providing information about school policies, programs, and events.

 

  1. Conduct home visits as needed and facilitate communication between parents, teachers, and administrators to support student academic success and well-being.

 

  1. Organize and conduct parent workshops, meetings, and other events to enhance parental involvement and understanding of school processes.

 

  1. Assist parents in navigating school resources, including special education services, counseling, and extracurricular activities.

 

  1. Develop and distribute communication materials such as newsletters, flyers, and social media updates to keep parents informed and engaged.

 

  1. Advocate for the needs of parents and students by participating in school planning meetings and providing input on policies and practices.

 

  1. Coordinate with agencies such as Child Protection Services, Youth Court, the School Attendance Officer, and other community agencies, as appropriate and as assigned; and works closely to coordinate needed services for students and families.

 

  1. Assist with enrollment and registration processes, ensuring parents have the necessary information and support.

 

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including enrollment, attendance, grades, and disciplinary actions.

 

  1. Process and manage student registration, transfers, and withdrawals, ensuring all required documentation is complete and properly filed.

 

  1. Generate and distribute student transcripts, report cards, and other academic records as requested by parents, students, or authorized personnel.

 

  1. Communicate policy on attendance and grading, and monitor and report student attendance, following up on absences and excuses, tardiness, and truancy with parents and appropriate school staff.

 

  1. Assist with the preparation of reports and data entry related to student performance, demographics, and other relevant metrics.

 

  1. Ensure the confidentiality and security of all student records in compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., FERPA).

 

  1. Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, managing correspondence, and assisting with other administrative tasks as needed.

 

  1. Performs duties and tasks, as assigned, by the counselor and principal.



Terms of Employment: 205 days a year.  Salary to be established by the Board.
