Position Summary:
The HR Generalist/ Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-and long-term disability, medical and dependent care flex plans, EAP and 403(b) plan. Also responsible for the daily functions of the human resources department to include leave benefits, employee changes, administering pay, and enforcing Delta Health policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave, performance, termination to include exit interview, occupational health and safety, and unemployment. Handle all administrative tasks to, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide accurate eligibility information to providers; Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes; Review all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility in the HRIS system; monitor enrollment monthly and send out proper notifications.
- Processes and verifies all life status changes for accuracy and required paperwork; Performs quality checks of benefits-related data; Provides necessary reports and payment for allocation/billing charges.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from employees, managers, providers, facilities on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
- Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, military and FMLA; effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications per driving policy.
- Responsible for employee leave and paid time off programs in the HR system to include: vacation, bereavement, sick, FMLA, and all other LOA policies; Manages FMLA leave for employees with support from the Human Resources Business Partner.
- Responds to 403(b) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment and open enrollment dates.
- Assists in compensation and benefit planning and administration including coordination of annual open enrollment, changes in coverage and reconciliation with benefit providers and employee records.
- Responsible for reporting the status and entering of all employee licensure and certification requirements.
- Processes employment changes (i.e., base compensation, position changes, department changes, name changes, market adjustments, terminated) within the organization.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory education, training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include HIPAA, safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- serves as back-up for other team members in the HR Department when needed; Maintains effective communication and good working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.

Required Education & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree and three years of HR and/or benefit administration preferred; or High School diploma with five years of HR and/or benefit administration experience required.
- PHR certification and/or SHRM-CP preferred.
