Position Description
The Track Superintendent is responsible for leading the team to ensure employees perform duties and responsibilities safely, specifications are adhered to, and projects are completed on time and within budget.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor project progress, coordinate activities, and resolve problems.
- Conduct job audits and daily safety meeting to promote safety being the top priority.
- Instruct employees on their day-to-day tasks and responsibilities.
- Monitor employees’ performance to ensure safety and productivity standards are met.
- Provide coaching and feedback on employees’ performance & foster an environment of employee engagement.
- Conduct employee relations investigations and partner with Project Manager and corporate HR to determine resolutions.
- Maintain a physical presence and regularly inspect work on-site to ensure compliance.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
- Work in extreme all-weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow and sleet).
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand and sit for extended time.
- Exposed to loud noise.
- May be exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be willing to travel to various project sites
- Availability to work 7 days a week (base will be 40 hour work week)
- Monday – Friday during the pre-construction phase.
- Must be available for field work all weekend once construction begins.
Position Requirements
Skill Requirements:
- Good interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- OSHA knowledge
- Knowledge of track or general construction
- Computer knowledge: Familiar with Microsoft Suites
- Understanding safety guidelines
- Attention to detail and excellent time management skills
- Analytical and strong problem-solving ability
- The ability to communicate in a professional manner with owner’s representatives, coworkers, and direct supervisors
- Must be able to work well with others
Work Experience Requirements:
- 5 years of construction leadership experience
Education Requirements:
- 4 year college degree in Business or Engineering or 5 years of construction leadership experience
