JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Delta Utilities is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for overseeing the preparation, analysis, and submission of financial reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role ensures accuracy, transparency, and timeliness in financial reporting while collaborating with internal stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and review reporting packages for lenders and private equity sponsor in accordance with GAAP, FERC, and other applicable regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of financial reports with regulatory bodies.
- Maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Research, document and resolve complex accounting issues and transactions (i.e. revenue recognition, deferred costs, internally developed software, etc.)
Internal Controls & Audit Coordination:
- Review general ledger activity for proper coding, completeness, and financial integrity
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, responding to audit requests and ensuring timely completion of audits.
Financial Analysis & Reporting Improvements:
- Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations to management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports and presentations.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with finance, regulatory and other departments to ensure alignment in financial reporting.
- Provide guidance and training to finance staff on reporting standards and best practices.
- Support special projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and system implementations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum experience required of the position
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a regulated utility or energy industry, public accounting, or a related role.
- Supervisory or management experience in an accounting or finance function.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, FERC, and SEC reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in ERP accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
