Pay Rate: $167,475 - $209,344
Resident Design Engineer
Delve Underground is looking for a Resident Design Engineer with 15-20 years of construction management experience and heavy underground construction. This position is located in NYC, on a Design-Build project during the construction period that involves Delve Underground in the role of lead design engineer for the Design-Builder.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Design Engineer liaison between the construction team and the design team to:
- Lead Delve Underground's Engineering Services During Construction team
- Lead Design Engineer responses to Contractor questions
- Lead the Design Engineer efforts in resolving constructability issues that arise
- Lead the Design Engineer role in addressing non-conformances during construction and developing solutions that aid in resolution
- Manage Delve Underground's ESDC team reviews and responses to the following Design-Builder documents and construction processes in an efficient manner:
- Requests for Information (RFI)
- Contractor Submittals
- Construction Schedules
- Inspection Reports and Logs
- Agendas and Meeting Minutes
- Permitting
- Change Management Logs
- Serve as primary field contact with the Design-Builder performing the work to foster and maintain a professional relationship to provide the highest quality services.
- Maintain open lines of communication with the Design-Builder, Designer/Engineer of Record and Owner personnel to facilitate the completion of work on time and on budget. A priority will be addressing construction conflicts expeditiously and skillfully to minimize their impact on the project schedule and budget.
- Perform other tasks as deemed necessary to facilitate the construction work.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York Professional Engineering license is required.
- BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 15 years' experience with heavy infrastructure construction including tunnel and shaft construction.
- Knowledge and experience with ground improvement methods, tunneling, and shaft excavation construction is a plus.
- Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities, and supervise, train, and mentor other design personnel.
- Strong team building, analytical and technical communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Computer proficiency and versed in Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Experience reading contract drawings and specifications.
- Willingness to work swing or night shifts when needed during ongoing field work.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position to perform field inspections which include: the ability to navigate over rough terrain, descend/ascend ladders into trenches or deep shafts and carry up to 30 lbs. as needed.
- OSHA 10 - Construction, Hazwoper, Confined Space, Fall Protection and Various training certificates a plus.
