Job Summary: Deming High School is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Copy Center and School Store Clerk. This position involves efficiently managing the copy center operations and overseeing the school store to ensure a smooth and customer-friendly environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Copy Center Operations:
- Operate and maintain copy machines, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Handle copy requests from staff, students, and administrators in a timely manner.
- Monitor and manage supplies for the copy center, placing orders as needed.
- Troubleshoot basic issues with copy equipment.
School Store Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school store.
- Order and restock merchandise to meet demand, ensuring a varied and appealing selection.
- Operate the cash register, handling transactions accurately and providing excellent customer service.
- Take inventory regularly and update records to track stock levels.
- Maintain a clean and organized appearance of the school store.
Communication:
- Collaborate with school staff to understand their copying needs and provide excellent service.
- Communicate effectively with vendors for merchandise orders, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Address any issues or concerns from staff, students, or administrators related to the copy center or school store.
Administrative Tasks:
- Keep detailed records of copy jobs and sales transactions.
- Generate reports on copy center usage and school store sales for review.
- Assist in budgeting for supplies and merchandise.
Customer Service:
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service to all individuals utilizing the copy center or visiting the school store.
- Ensure a positive and welcoming atmosphere for staff, students, and visitors.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant experience is a plus.
- Previous experience in copy center operations and/or retail management preferred.
- Familiarity with copy machines and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in basic computer applications.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate weights as required for store inventory.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements:
Walking, standing, sitting, bending, kneeling and squatting, climbing stairs, speaking and listening, reaching with hands and arms, having full mobility of fingers/hands to finger, handle or feel, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, carrying, lifting, and moving up to 25 pounds and/or moving light furniture may be required.
