Digital Democracy Proposal Advisor 
 
Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Digital Democracy Proposal Advisor for a proposal for the anticipated five-year Advancing Digital Democracy (ADD) Mechanism funded by USAID. The services or supplies acquired and directed under this mechanism will enable the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance (DRG) to support a variety of stakeholders, including governments, private sector, professional associations, research institutions, academia, civil society organizations, consumer organizations/associations, and regional and multilateral organizations to build and/or strengthen democratic values and human rights across digital ecosystems. The Digital Democracy Proposal Advisor will have expertise in strategic planning, leading proposals for global projects with USAID, or relevant digital democracy and human rights experience. The Proposal Advisor will also be expected to ensure consistency and quality across all technical sections, including drafts from other writers. The Proposal Advisor will work closely with the DI proposal manager to develop and review the technical proposal for the anticipated ADD Mechanism.
 
 
Essential Job Duties: 
 
The position's responsibilities will include:
 
Programmatic
  • Provide technical insight and input across all elements that inform the technical approach, including appropriate levels of effort and staffing structure(s), work-planning, execution of activities, partnering, and overall responsiveness to the requirements;
  • Provide technical expertise across multiple technical sectors, such as digital development, policy and strategy, digital rights, digital inclusion, and/or digital transformation;
  • Write proposal content, including technical sections, management and staffing sections, resumes, and executive summary.
  • Review and edit sections drafted by other contributors;
  • Work with DI staff to formulate content for technical and/or non-technical sections;
  • Collaborate with partners to design and develop their technical inputs as necessary;
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the proposal team during review sessions;
  • Attend meetings, review sessions, and otherwise coordinate with DI staff as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in international development, political science, management, or other relevant field, Master’s degree preferred but not required;
  • Experience preparing international development proposals for USAID;
  • Proven technical writing skills and track record of creating compelling, clear, and succinct documents;
  • Experience and technical expertise working on relevant technical sectors, such as digital development, policy and strategy, democracy, digital rights, digital inclusion, and/or digital transformation; and
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
 
Reporting: 
  • This position reports to the Director of Strategy & Design
