Legal Recruiting Manager – Washington, D.C.
Demos Consultants is seeking a Legal Recruiting Manager on behalf of a prestigious law firm in Washington, D.C. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days in the office and a salary ranging from $140,000-$170,000
This person must have at least 5 years of experience and law firm recruiting manager experience, including experience managing summer associates programs. This role is part of the firm’s Human Resources Department and is responsible for overseeing all phases of non-partner attorney recruitment across multiple offices. The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative professional eager to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Summer Associate Recruiting
- Manage the law student recruiting process and summer associate programs across multiple Northeast Cooridor offices.
- Build relationships with law school career services offices and student organizations to coordinate firm participation in outreach activities.
- Lead 1L and 2L law student recruiting, including screening interviews, on-campus recruiting, callback interviews, and offers.
- Plan and execute the summer associate program, including work assignments, evaluations, events, and logistics.
- Collaborate with the firm-wide recruiting team to ensure a cohesive summer associate experience.
- Support the Hiring Partner and Recruiting Committee in developing and implementing hiring strategies.
Lateral Associate Recruiting
- Work with Recruiting, Professional Development, Diversity & Inclusion, and Legal Personnel teams to streamline recruiting, onboarding, and integration.
- Develop an understanding of various legal markets and maintain relationships with key recruiters.
- Communicate with practice group leaders and firm management to identify lateral hiring needs and draft job descriptions.
- Oversee the full recruitment cycle for lateral associates, including sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, collecting feedback, facilitating offer approvals, and onboarding.
- Develop and execute integration plans for lateral hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the firm.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supervise the Recruiting Administrator and Recruiting Assistant.
- Partner with the Director of Diversity & Inclusion to recruit, integrate, and retain diverse talent.
- Proactively source candidates to build a strong and diverse talent pipeline.
- Maintain a strong understanding of firm policies and market differentiators to communicate effectively with candidates and recruiters.
- Collaborate with HR and Legal Personnel teams on various initiatives.
Qualifications
- Must have 5 years of law firm recruiting experience.
- Must have experience as a legal recruiting manager in a law firm
- Must have experience with summer associate program
- Must have experience interviewing lateral associates
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
- Excellent judgment and ability to handle confidential information.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Resourceful, creative, and self-directed, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with MS Teams and viDesktop is a plus.
- Adaptable and flexible to shifting priorities.
- Background check required.
