Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8 hour shifts, 32 hours/week
Position Summary: Under supervision, the CT Technologist will possess clinical skills necessary to provide accurate, effective and efficient diagnostic testing at a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. This is a specialized technical position. Work is performed under direct supervision of a qualified physician.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Translates physician orders into appropriate diagnostic imaging procedures including age and growth/development needs.
- Performs CT examinations of all anatomic structures as ordered by the physician.
- Instructs and supports patients during imaging. Explaining procedure to patients and answering any questions/concerns they may have.
- Obtains accurate documentation of patient history pertaining to specific examination, including lab results. Assists nurses with IV lines/injection. Notifies physician/supervisor promptly of any potential issues or reaction regarding examinations.

- Provides technical direction to personnel within work team during working hours and during shift changes. This includes clarifying current and future patient related issues to ensuring adequate coverage and workflow for other CT Technologists and staff.
- Monitors work flow to assure appropriate patient and testing turnaround times. Assures that appropriate procedures and paperwork are being completed.
- Maintains records as directed by department head, including computer records. Assembles images and obtains stat reports as required. Obtains accurate documentation of patient history pertaining to specific examination on requisition.
- Performs daily quality assurance testing with CT equipment. Routinely cleans all equipment. Performs checks on equipment prior to exposing patients to ionizing radiation. Uses proper protocols including low-dose pediatric protocols.
- Determines if additional images are necessary. Notifies supervisor of any equipment service issues.
- Assists in the training of CT Technologists.
- Gives input for policy, procedure and protocols as necessary.
- Ability to answer all related questions pertaining to CT or other functions within department.
- Assists in promoting and marketing the department both internally and externally as needed.
- Other duties include: attends to mechanical safety needs of patients and personnel in assigned area, practicing sterile techniques when necessary; assists in maintenance of economical use of patient supplies and inventory control in patient care areas; instructs and orients new radiological technologists when requested, other duties as appointed by supervisor.
- Exercises judgment that reflects the Dent's values when interacting with associated vendors / suppliers. Represents the Dent by displaying a respectful manner with vendors or suppliers
- Demonstrates the ability to accept responsibility for appropriate conduct within the office setting and with other department associates.
- Functions as a member of the Imaging team. Interacts and cooperates with all other members of the imaging team. Reports errors or problems so that appropriate action may be taken for department management.

Required Education:
- AAS Degree in Radiology Technology from an approved school of radiology.
- ARRT certification ARRT (R), ARRT (CT)
- Must maintain current license as Radiologic Technologist, with injection by NYSDOH.
- BLS required at time of acceptance of position.
- Minimum 1 years working experience working on CT machines
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 3 years prior working experience working on CT machines
- Experience with 3D- recon software preferred
Working Conditions:
- Strenuous physical effort, engaging in major physical activity involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling patients in excess of 200 pounds.
- Almost continuous noise inherent to the scanning equipment
- Occasional cold temperatures in working area related to equipment maintenance
- Associated health risks related to patient exposure
- Some lifting of files and x –rays, not usually in excess of 15 pounds.
- Must be able to visually observe and verbally interact with patients. Normal dexterity for working with small parts.
- Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job with the type of judgments and potential consequences outlined above.
- Exposure to darkroom chemicals. Exposed to some noises, odors, diseases, threat of infection, etc. Normal heat, light, air space and safe working environment

Compensation:
- Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range
- Rates are commensurate with experience
