What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthodontic Assistant position at Dentistry of the Carolinas?
We are seeking an ORTHODONTIC Dental Assistant for our Monroe Orthodontic office and has the following qualifications :
- Dental Assisting certification
- Minimum TWO years orthodontic assisting experience preferred
- Taking orthodontic records (digital photos with Dolphin imaging, pano / ceph x-rays, study models)
- Taking Invisalign impressions / bite registration
- Performing orthodontic adjustments (changing archwires, elastomeric ties, ligature ties, powerchains, open / close coils)
- Assisting doctor with direct bonding of braces (preparation of teeth, brackets, curing)
- Fitting molar bands
- Taking impressions for orthodontic appliances (retainers, RPE, space maintainers)
- Removing / debanding braces
- Reviewing and educating patients and parents in regard to home care instructions, rubber band wear, RPE use, retainer care, etc.
- Greets patients by name with a smile, walks patients out to lobby after appointment to dismiss to parents / guardian
- Attends to patient's needs and ensures a pleasant treatment experience
- Has an excellent rapport with patients and teammates
- Has a positive attitude and willingness to help others, especially coworkers; drama-free
- Experienced in four handed dentistry
- Anticipates doctors needs
- Executes all necessary lab procedures with accuracy
- Directs patient flow through time management
- Stocks treatment areas and monitors inventory
- Ability to multitask
- Demonstrates equipment knowledge and performs regular equipment maintenance and care
- Complies with all regulations, protocols and procedures
- Exercises knowledge of dental instruments and terminology
- Ortho2 (or compatible software) and digital radiography experience
- Current CPR Certification
- X-Ray Certification
- Record of updated vaccinations
We are willing to train you if you have minimum of five years DENTAL ASSISTING experience
This position is full time Monday-Thursday with select Fridays. Compensation is based upon experience and a competitive benefits package is included with offer of employment.
