DUTY DAYS: 187 days per year
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Bilingual LPAC Aide will serve two secondary campuses. At the campus level, the Bilingual LPAC Aide will work closely with LPAC Chairpersons to ensure ELLs are properly identified, tested, and their (blue) folders are up to date.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent with some college-level education or
training. A copy of your high school diploma or GED certificate will be required upon
employment.
Special Knowledge/Skills Preferred:
Must have proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and translating Spanish and English.
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and do word processing.
Proficient in file maintenance.
Ability to meet established deadlines.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to execute written employment contract with the Denton ISD.
Must be able to get along with staff, students, and parents.
Experience:
Experience in clerical or secretarial work preferred.
Experience in data entry.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist in maintaining physical and computerized records, including student ELL (blue) folders, progress and failure reports, and any record pertinent for ELLs.
- Assist in maintaining all confidential LPAC documentation.
- Maintains documents, files and records (e.g. permanent files, grants, agendas, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
- Assist in collection and entering of PEIMS data into established database.
- Verify accuracy of data according to established procedures.
- Process new student records, including requesting transcripts and records from other schools, setting up ELL (blue) folder, entering student data into appropriate databases, and informing LPAC chairperson of new students.
- Assist with registration/withdrawal process.
- Assist parents, students, and faculty with Bilingual/ ESL questions as well as oral and written translations as needed.
- Test English and Spanish language oral proficiency as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, BE/ESL Coordinator, and Campus Administrator.
- Follows all rules, regulations and policies of the Denton ISD and follows directives from superiors.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy, procedures and data; assist in coordination of district functions; maintains emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
