Senior Manager of Development Events, Full-Time

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Denver Art Museum is seeking a dynamic and creative event planner and fundraiser to manage the Development departments fundraising and stewardship event program. This position will play a pivotal role in developing, organizing and executing high-profile events that generate revenue to support the museum’s mission and programs. The planner works closely with senior leadership, the development team, and museum staff to ensure that events are aligned with the institution's goals, enhance donor engagement, and foster long-term relationships with patrons, sponsors, and partners.

 

This position reports to the Associate Director, Development & Events.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement all aspects of fundraising events (such as Collectors’ Choice, Uncorked, Luncheon by Design, The Ball) and donor stewardship events (such as the Chairwoman’s Dinner, Opening Galas, Exhibition Opening Receptions & Dinners, Luncheon with the Director), including
    • Develop Event Program Concept with key stakeholders (Director, curators, trustees, etc.)
    • In partnership with Associate Director, Development, plan and execute Event Committees:
      • Generate committee prospect list in partnership with development colleagues
      • Build committee strategy
      • Schedule and communicate with event co-chairs and committees
    • Plan and execute Fundraising Plan for events
      • Build fundraising narrative / messaging
      • Develop prospect lists, projections, and path to goal analysis
      • Coordinate with MGOs on prospect follow up
      • Determine sponsorship and ticket levels and benefits
      • Develop strategies for outreach and related collateral
    • Manage event run of show and remarks
    • Manage budget and all expenses related to events
    • Research, strategize and secure approvals for all entertainment tailored to each event
    • Develop event specific look and feel concept and work with vendors to secure appropriate décor
    • Partner with catering department to design event specific menu
    • Provide direction to graphic designer to create and iterate on event design
    • Manage graphic designer to create all event collateral – save the date, sponsor packet, invitations, programs, signage, etc.
    • Oversee and manage costs related to fundraising events to achieve optimal net revenue.
    • Create reports for management as requested
  • Manage relationships with key vendors (rentals, audio/visual, in-kind donations, etc.) in order to maximize savings for the museum
  • Communicate event plans and needs to internal operations teams, including Facilities, Security, Visitor Operations, Sales & Services, IT
  • Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations
  • Yearly goal setting to support Racial Equity Roadmap initiatives

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.): 

  • Plan, budget, execute and document all aspects of fundraising events and development events.
  • Thorough knowledge of Development Department procedures and fundraising principals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with all levels of donors, patrons, members, staff and volunteers in a professional and courteous manner. Must be tactful, diplomatic, and represent the museum in a friendly, professional manner at all times.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to organize work with attention to detail and timelines.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and consistently utilize the museum’s CRM.
  • Ability and willingness to learn about museum collections, exhibitions, events and activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to manage and coach employees and supervise volunteers.
  • Knowledge of art history or fine art preferred.
  • College degree or equivalent experience required.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events.
  • Some lifting and moving.
  • Subject to interruptions.

 

Position type: This position will not be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.

 

Pay: The hiring salary range for the position is $62,400 – $83,200 / year based on experience.
