Job Summary
Under general supervision, the WIC Educator delivers WIC services to participants by determining and documenting eligibility, maintaining participant and program records, interviewing and providing nutrition and breastfeeding education, and promoting behavior change. Refers WIC participants to appropriate healthcare, community, and social service programs. Assists clinic in front desk reception area duties including checking in participants and issuing Food Instruments (FIs).

Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education: High school diploma or GED-equivalent. Additional education in nutrition, dietetics or directly related field and/or completion of a dietetic technician program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred. Experience: Two years customer service experience with a minimum of one year working with the public; WIC and/or public health experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of basic spelling and math, including measurements used for weight, height, and length (fractions, pounds, and ounces). Proficient typing and bilingual skills preferred. Ability to: operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate and neat records; communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to: work as a team member; provide quality customer service skills in person and over the phone; promote breastfeeding and provide lactation support. ~Level I and II certification completed for the Colorado WIC Program within 60 days of employment, Level III within 6 months of employment. CPR certification required within 6 months of employment. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.

$20.19 - $ 27.26/hr
