Job Description

  • Exceptional Student Services would like to inform you of an important update regarding summer extra pay positions (ESY, Child Find Assessment and Summer Assessment) for this summer. As part of the DCTA contract, the determined rate for all teacher and SSP summer extra pay positions has been set at $47.26 per hour. Educator hourly rate is only for approved compensatory education services. This rate is different from previous years, where the pay was structured differently and we wanted to ensure everyone is aware.

About this job :

The Seasonal Child Find SSP is obligated to provide evaluations for any child from three to five (3-5) years old that has been referred. Child Find teams need to be available for screenings and evaluations during six weeks of the summer to ensure compliance. We will need a total of four (4) qualified Child Find teams, about 6 people per team, to provide these services. This job will require different special service provider roles over the summer to perform evaluations based on areas of need outlined in the referral. This position will work on a multidisciplinary team for one (or more) 2-week blocks, plus additional two days to complete required paperwork.

  • Block 1 : June 9 - 13, June 16 - 20 (No events June 19), June 23 - 24
  • Block 2 : July 7 - 11, July 14 - 18, July 21 - 22
  • Block 3 : July 21 - 25, July 28 - August 1, August 4 - 5

  • What You'll Do :

  • Gather referral information and provide developmental screenings when needed.
  • Complete evaluation reports and IEP (as needed) on a rigorous schedule.
  • Be comfortable with virtual and in-person assessments and eligibility / IEP meetings.
  • Evaluates students, contributes to eligibility determination, identifies and documents goals, and contributes to IEP development.
  • Communicates, instructs, coordinates and collaborates with team members, staff, and parents about students' educational needs and strategies in order to maximize educational opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • What You'll Need :

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree or above preferred (Early Childhood Special Educator, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, School Psychologist).
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in early childhood special education or relevant expertise.
  • Must hold current Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider or appropriate teaching license, as well as appropriate national board certification for SSPs, as indicated.
  • Proficient in completing evaluations for children aged 2 : 6 - 5 : 0 using various assessments, including the Transdisciplinary Play Based Assessment - Second Edition (TPBA-2) and Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS-2).
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Enrich proficiency.
  • Previous Child Find experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
