Recommended qualifications to be successful in this role:
- In-depth knowledge of water resource management, climate change science, and climate change adaptation strategies

- Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects in a collaborative team environment, resolve conflicts, and negotiate with multiple workgroups or organizations

Position Summary
The Water Resource Strategy Division of Denver Water is currently seeking a qualified candidate to provide important assistance as a Planner Associate/Planner in the Water Resource Planning group. The Planner Associate/Planner is primarily responsible for supporting the Climate Change Adaptation Program, and will also support additional long-range water resource planning and recycled water planning efforts as needed. In supporting the Climate Change Adaptation Program, the Planner Associate/Planner will assist in mainstreaming climate change adaptation throughout Denver Water to ensure that all Denver Water business functions can adapt to current and future climate change threats. This includes working across water resource strategy, engineering, finance, employee health and safety, emergency management, asset management, and human resources. The Planner Associate/Planner will also engage externally with Denver Water’s extensive network of local, regional, and national partners who collaboratively work to advance climate adaptation in the water sector.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead complex technical research and analysis of interactions between water supply, water demand, climate change, demographics, and policy.
- Manage the implementation of planning-oriented projects
- Analyze and interpret specialized models that simulate future water supply and demand scenarios.
- Lead special and periodic studies in capital program development in relation to climate change adaptation.
- Compile and interpret analytical data in studies of costs and feasibility of climate change adaptation projects
- Research and prepare oral/written reports, and recommendations
- Perform complex technical environmental work and analysis. Design and conduct environmental studies.
- Perform related work as required.
Climate Change Adaptation Planner: Supports the Climate Change Adaptation Program by developing and implementing strategies and projects to address climate change impacts on Denver Water's business functions. Conducts assessments and analysis to identify climate vulnerabilities in water supply, watersheds, assets, and operations, integrates climate change considerations into policies, plans, and operational procedures, and provides training and resources to staff. Additionally, assists in general long-range water resource planning, recycled water planning initiatives, and one-water planning. Also represents Denver Water in regional and national collaborative climate change adaptation efforts, shares knowledge through presentations, and stays informed about the latest developments in climate adaptation.
Salary : $70,238 - $102,542
