The Campaign Coordinator supports our mission and goals through active involvement in multi-year comprehensive and capital fundraising campaigns. These campaigns are designed to boost public philanthropic support for DZCA. Working collaboratively with the Campaign Director, this position focuses on improving and optimizing detailed communication related to key campaign projects and goals. The Campaign Coordinator provides essential support to the Campaign Director, the Foundations Partnerships Manager, and the frontline fundraising team within the Philanthropy department. Responsibilities include administrative support, managing constituent data, supporting grants, preparing reports and acknowledgements, conducting prospect research, providing event support, and overseeing donor signage.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Campaign Support
- Support the Campaign Director with activities related to the Into the Great Wild Open comprehensive campaign as well as the transition to a future capital campaign, including data management, stewardship activities, reports, and Campaign Committee meetings and events.
Grants Support
- Support the Foundations Partnerships Manager by managing the grants folder, proposal collateral, reporting calendar, and communication with relevant Zoo staff on specific grants, funding deadlines, and document management.
- Provide grant writing and submission support for grant opportunities under $25,000 and annual renewal grants as needed.
Prospect and Donor Research
- Oversee the department’s wealth screening vendor relationships (Donor Search, etc.) and support the Philanthropy team with donor research, prospect profiles, wealth screenings, preparation of lists, segmentations, e-communications data file preparation, and data cleanup projects as requested.
Administrative and Event Support
- Provide administrative support to the Philanthropy Team, including data management in Tessitura, data entry, gift acknowledgements, donor CRM analytics, scheduling meetings and tours, and general administrative tasks.
- Provide back-up support for gift entry, check log, and gift processing.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for evening and weekend events as needed.
Donor Signage Management
- Oversee donor recognition records and physical donor recognition signage across the zoo campus. Maintain accurate data and coordinate closely with Signage Manager to maintain and develop new donor recognition signage as needed.
Other Responsibilities and Duties
- Other assistance, as designated by the Campaign Director, to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DZCA retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
- Acts as a good steward of DZCA’s resources.
- The nature of this position requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DZCA and of private information related to donors and philanthropic gifts.
- This position will interact with managers at all levels and staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.
Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications
- 2-year degree required; 4-year bachelor’s degree preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience accepted.
- Experience in supporting a fundraising operation (working in a supporting role across annual giving, grants, major and planned gifts experience) or working in a nonprofit research or data entry role, or any equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, database such as Tessitura or equivalent CRM or ticketing software, are required.
- Requires organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks.
- Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, and changing environment, and the ability to work as part of a team. Must be comfortable working and collaborating with a broad cross-section of people in direct matrixed relationships.
- Requires the ability to embrace, support, and integrate DZCA’s philosophies to promote and demonstrate its commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.
Position Conditions
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
- Schedule Availability: Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Recognizing that fundraising activities can extend beyond regular hours, evening and weekend availability is required to support our Philanthropy team’s efforts.
- Work Location: On campus.
Compensation
The range for this position is $25.95 - $31.78 (hourly).
