The
Oregon Department of Administrative Services
(DAS) is the backbone of Oregon state government, providing essential administrative, financial, technology, procurement, human resources, and facility management services. We ensure that state agencies have the tools they need to serve Oregonians effectively.
As the Administrative Support Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, staff, vendors, and contractors at our Executive Building. Your responsibilities include:
- Front Desk & Customer Service – Greet and screen walk-in visitors, assess needs, and provide exceptional customer service. Monitor security systems, issue visitor badges, and assist in safety situations.
- Administrative Support – Handle mail distribution, answer and direct phone calls, and assist teams with data entry, word processing, and scheduling.
- Facility Coordination – Work with DAS Facilities to coordinate building maintenance, security access, and office space needs. Track service requests to ensure completion.
- Process Improvement – Evaluate and enhance front desk operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with state policies.
- Event & Training Assistance – Support workforce development programs, schedule meetings, and assist with training coordination in Workday Learning.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
- An associate degree in any field; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Attributes:
- Strong communication and customer service skills, including professional interactions via phone, email, and in person.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other administrative tools.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Integrity, accountability, and a commitment to following procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- General knowledge of office practices, procedures, and state government operations.
